On June 2, Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute hosted an open lecture delivered by Dr. Antonis Ekizos, Assistant Professor, Section of Sport Medicine & Exercise Biology, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (Greece), on the topic:

“Control Priorities in Human Locomotion: Stability, Economy, and Implications for Assistive Devices.”

During the lecture, participants had the opportunity to explore contemporary scientific approaches to the study of human locomotion, mechanisms underlying movement stability and energy efficiency, the biomechanics of barefoot walking, processes of motor learning and adaptation, as well as innovative developments in assistive technologies and prosthetics.

This event was especially meaningful as it took place despite a difficult night in Kyiv marked by large-scale missile and drone attacks and prolonged air raid alerts. Despite the challenges of wartime, international academic cooperation continues, providing students, educators, and researchers with opportunities to exchange knowledge and engage with global best practices.

We sincerely thank Dr. Antonis Ekizos for his insightful and inspiring lecture, and all participants for their active engagement, enthusiasm, and commitment to learning even under the difficult circumstances of today.

Education, science, and international cooperation remain powerful drivers of resilience, progress, and development.
