Study Visit to Stockholm within the Framework of the International CURIOUS Project

A group of lecturers from the Department of Biosafety and Human Health carried out a study visit to Stockholm, Sweden, from April 20 to 24, 2026, within the framework of the international project “Occupational Therapy Without Borders: Swedish-Ukrainian Professional Exchange for Sustainable Rehabilitation Development in Ukraine (CURIOUS)”.

The host organization was Beredskapslyftet, a Swedish organization that ensured a high level of internship organization and provided access to leading clinical and educational platforms.

Purpose of the Visit

The program was aimed at:

familiarization with the modern occupational therapy system in Sweden;
studying interdisciplinary approaches in rehabilitation;
mastering international assessment models, in particular MOHOST;
improving the qualifications of lecturers and developing international cooperation.

Main Areas of the Internship

The visit covered key aspects, including:

organization of rehabilitation care in Sweden;
modern approaches to occupational therapy;
clinical practice in neurological and physical rehabilitation;
patient-centered approaches and personalized support.

Leading Institutions and Partners

The participants had the opportunity to gain experience from leading institutions:

Karolinska Institutet (KI) — one of the leading medical universities in Europe;
Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at Danderyd Hospital — a university rehabilitation clinic;
Stockholms Sjukhem — a center for primary and specialized rehabilitation;
Sophiahemmet Sjukhus — a multidisciplinary medical and educational center;
Aleris (Spinalis) — specialized rehabilitation, including spinal rehabilitation;
Independent Living Institute (ILI) — development of independence for persons with disabilities.
