The Faculty of Biomedical Engineering of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute became one of the organizers of the All-Ukrainian Scientific Conference \u201cThe Chornobyl Disaster: Medical, Environmental, and Social Consequences 40 Years Later\u201d<\/strong>, held pursuant to Resolution of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine dated 04.12.2025 No. 4716-IX and Order of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated 05.02.2026 No. 118-r.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The conference focused on the following issues:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Medical and biological consequences of radiation exposure and public health issues;
The ecological condition of the affected territories and modern approaches to their monitoring and restoration;
Scientific and technical challenges of the sustainable development of nuclear energy;
Socio-economic and psychological aspects of the Chornobyl disaster.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Faculty of Biomedical Engineering is developing cooperation in the fields of radiobiology, radiation safety, rehabilitation, and the development of dosimetry methods and tools with a number of partners, primarily with institutions of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The FBMI team expresses its sincere gratitude to colleagues from the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine for their joint work in organizing the event:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vasyl LAZORYSHYNETS, President of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine;

We also express our sincere gratitude to Serhii TARAN, Head of the Monitoring and Communications Department of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, for his joint work in organizing the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The conference was also attended by liquidators of the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant accident, representatives of the leadership of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), representatives of civil society, lecturers, researchers, students and postgraduate students of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, as well as other universities and research institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
